German Consumers Demand an End to RFID Experiments!

German consumers gather outside of METRO's "Extra Future Store" in Rheinberg, Germany to demand an end to the RFID experiments taking place there.

STOP RFID!

We are not your guinea pigs!

Undeterred by an overnight 1-2 foot snowstorm that blocked traffic on all major roads leading into Rheinberg, Germany, over 40 protestors gathered in front of the Future Store to demonstrate on Saturday, February 28th. Many took trains into the city and walked 4 kilometers in deep snow to participate in the event.

The protest was endorsed by fourteen German consumer and civil liberties groups.

German Consumer Demands

FoeBud, the German privacy group that organized the protest, has issued a statement calling for the following:

No uncontrolled RFID implementation!
Stop RFID and customer card trials immediately!
Set up and fund a forum of data, consumer, environmental, and civil rights protection protagonists, to ensure an introduction of RFID that is compatible with democracy and acceptable to society!
